"Jeff and I met working at a summer camp. He had come over from New Zealand for a couple of months to teach kids video editing and to be an overnight camp counselor. Jeff stood out to me as soon as I met him because he was so shy at first but there was something about him that just drew me to him. I really felt like I needed to break him out of his shell. On one of the first nights that all of the staff were there (and before the kids arrived) a bunch of us were going out to Greenport to get a beer and my best friend, Sarah, made me go ask him to come with us. I “reluctantly” went over and asked him if he wanted to come with us. He said yes, and after that night we hung out every chance we could get. I was drawn to him like a magnet. Because it was an overnight summer camp Jeff only had off two nights a week so he came up with lots of crazy fun things to do when we were together and he started to write me letters every day when we were apart. He would ask me a million and one questions about myself and I would write back and do the same. At first it felt like we were in fourth grade, passing notes in the hall, but every time I got one of those notes I got butterflies in my stomach and it is one of those things we cherish most now. We have a pile of them in a book at our house, they have traveled everywhere with us. It reminds us of how crazy we were about each other then and how much more we love each other now."

“When Jeff and I first started dating I didn’t tell my family. We both thought that it was just a summer fling because after the summer Jeff had to go back to his home in New Zealand. But that all changed at my college graduation party. My best friend, Sarah, made a video for the party asking all of our friends questions about me and where they saw me in the future. There were a number of hilarious responses and whatnot but I think that if you ask any one of my family members the one that stands out is Jeff’s answer. I hadn’t invited him to the party because I didn’t want there to be too many questions. Then in the video he was asked, ‘Where do you see Brenna in 10 years?’ and with a sassy little smile on his face all he said was, ‘Making me coffee.’ ”
